One Child Lost is One Too Many.
WEC Water sponsored a hole in aid of the Step Forward/Against Gender Based Violence Golf Day which took place at The Country Club Johannesburg in Woodmead, on the 25th of October.
WEC created a constructed pit latrine exhibit on the hole to depict the deplorable sanitation conditions that millions of South Africans endure, particularly the tragic incidents involving children who have lost their lives by falling into such facilities. We wanted to bring awareness to the golfers that took part to this plight, and we successfully brought the message across with the exhibit and our locally adapted NEWgenerator™ solution.
The NEWgenerator™ is an innovative, non-sewered, off-grid sanitation system that has become instrumental in restoring dignity and, more importantly, saving lives in informal communities and rural schools. We express our deepest gratitude to Mbongeni Buthelezi for allowing us to display his artwork ‘Tribute to Michael Komape’ as part of the display at the golf day.
